Bamboo fiber

I'm looking into getting some bamboo fiber to spin, and possibly to sell as yarn... I'll have to let you know how this goes...

fiber details

So I was reading through some forums on etsy last night and I saw a question about what kind of batt makes a smooth yarn.... well here's my answer

This batt should spin up fairly smoothly http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=16704772

However this one, due to the kind of fiber in it will most likely be an “ART” yarn http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=16667538 You can see in some of the pictures some funky fibers like the silk noil and sari silk (depends on how it gets pulled out of the batt)

Also an easier way to spin a batt is to rip in into several thin strips like roving. Typically Batts that are created from hand dyed rovings come out smooth like roving, however if it is unprocessed wool from a raw fleece ( I use some of that) and the person carding the fiber doesn’t “fluff” the fiber enough it will come out thick and thin chunky Art yarn. If you really want to be able to spin a smooth yarn, I’d ask what kind of fiber went into the batt (roving or raw fleece) I know if someone asked me I’d be more than happy to answer. I hope this helps you out.

Cool laundry soap

So I finally figured out how to make my own laundry soap! The coolest part is that you have almost no impact on the environment and your clothes will seem to come out CLEANER!!! Hot cool is that?? Did I mention it's CHEAP and you hardly even have to use any when you do a load of laundry! Check it out: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=15104081

Pretty cool huh? I'd like to think so!

travel journalism

so, one of my life goals is to fill up my passport and have to request a new one before it expires. I know, ambitious goal right? Well I'd like to think I'm up to the challenge! I was pretty much born traveling. Within 10 day of my birth in either direction I was either driving across the alps or flying back to Germany... Needless to say I have an unquenchable desire to travel and see the world. The problem is I am seriously lacking funds right now.

It has been brought to my attention that I have a knack for writing and since I have already traveled to some pretty extraordinary places I've decided to write some articles and see if I can't get published.

What are some of the places you might like to hear about?

All these photos were taken in Rome Italy. They are all from either the Vatican museum or the vatican itself. The picture above is the line to get into the museum, the picture next to it is in the museum gardens, and the picture to the right is from the top of the Vatican (boy was that a hike!).

etsy mini

Ok so I haven't been able to figure out the etsy mini thing, if you know something I don't let me know.

Thanks.
